Mohammed Nasheed: The Island President

Male, capital of The Maldives. In 2009 and 2010 I traveled to the Maldives five times while working on The Island President, a film about President Mohammed Nasheed. These images were taken during that odyssey - following a head of state through his first year in office as he struggled to save his country from the effects of global climate change.

Everest: An Honest Moment

While teaching for three seasons with the Khumbu Climbing Center in Nepal I photographed every elder in the village of Phortse, returning to the village with prints for the elders the following year. These are a few of those portraits.

San Francisco: A Collaborative Artwork

Images from three weeks at the Joint Task Force Detention Center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, working on "Inside Guantanamo," for National Geographic Explorer. Gitmo is a world apart - ordinary events occurring in an extraordinary situation, where defining a clear and accepted reality inevitably creates a surreal situation.
